Resilient to weather events, the structures offer passive design strategies like insulation to reduce the demand for energy. RISE uses shipping containers which are retrofitted using environmentally-friendly technologies (solar, water reclamation, and waste management).

Shipping container buildings are great, but there are other technologies, building technologies, that are super energy efficient, and it’s really about building smart buildings. It doesn’t have to be a shipping container. This is just an example of how to build a smart building.
